What are you most passionate about?

My passion lies in both the privilege and responsibility of serving my patients, driven by a commitment to their well-being and their journey through cancer. I find fulfillment in fostering genuine connections and walking alongside them, providing support and personalized care that extends beyond medical expertise. Witnessing their resilience and guiding them through the challenges fuels my dedication, inspiring me to advocate for their health and empower them to face adversity with hope and strength.

What advances in oncology care are you seeing?

The era of continued pathogenic gene identification has led to the unprecedented development of gene-targeted therapies as well as immunotherapy. This has led to improvements in prognosis and quality of life for patients with a variety of malignancies.

What can patients expect when they have a consultation/appointment with you?

The journey that a patient embarks on after receiving a new cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming. With each visit, I aim to ensure my patients have a better understanding of their diagnosis and the options available to them.

If I weren’t an oncologist, I would be …

A therapist or a counselor. The parts of my job I enjoy most are the authentic conversations I have with my patients. I believe this aspect of my job is closely shared with therapy.

What was your first car?

My first car was a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

What was your first job?

I worked in a warehouse, stacking baseball cards for a summer. As expected, they weren’t as fun to collect after that summer!

Favorite holiday? Why?

It’s Christmas. I can’t say no to a glass of eggnog while watching “The Santa Clause” for the millionth time.

What is your favorite movie?

I grew up watching Mel Brooks films. Some of my favorites are “Men in Tights” and “Young Frankenstein.”

What is your favorite book?

As a father to a wide-eyed daughter with a wonderful imagination, I must choose “The Secret Life of Bees” as my new favorite book.

What is the best thing you like about living in Columbia?

I spent a lot of time here in Columbia for both my undergraduate and medical degrees. Forming relationships here is the best part of living in this town.
