Missouri Cancer Associates Announces Collaboration with Sarah Cannon Research Institute, Expanding Access to Cutting-Edge Cancer Trials in Mid-Missouri
Columbia, MO — Missouri Cancer Associates, through its affiliation with The US Oncology Network (The Network), is now conducting community-based clinical trials by collaborating with Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), a globally recognized leader in oncology research and community-based clinical trials. This collaboration will significantly expand access to innovative cancer treatments for patients across mid-Missouri.
Since its inception, SCRI has conducted more than 850 first-in-human trials and played a key role in the development of the majority of cancer therapies approved by the FDA in the past decade. Through this collaboration, SCRI at Missouri Cancer Associates will provide increased opportunities for patients to enroll in groundbreaking clinical trials—bringing world-class research directly into the community.
“This collaboration allows us to offer our patients access to promising new therapies without having to leave their local support systems,” said Dr. Caleb Smith, medical oncologist at Missouri Cancer Associates. “It’s another way we continue to deliver personalized, advanced cancer care that meets our patients where they are—right here at home.”
The collaboration with SCRI offers several advantages for cancer patients:
- Greater Treatment Options: Eligible patients will have access to a broader range of clinical trials aligned with their individual treatment plans.
- Access to Cutting-Edge Therapies: Patients can participate in trials evaluating the latest advancements in cancer care, some of which are not yet widely available.
- Advanced Clinical Trial Matching: Missouri Cancer Associates will leverage SCRI’s Personalized Medicine Team and Genospace, a precise clinical trial matching technology that uses clinical and genetic data to help identify individualized trial opportunities for patients.
“Missouri Cancer Associates’ commitment to providing exceptional cancer care is deeply aligned with our mission to bring the latest research options to patients in their own communities.” said Dee Anna Smith, CEO of SCRI. “This collaboration will make a significant impact for people facing cancer in Mid-Missouri by expanding access to novel therapies and cutting-edge treatment options.”
